Wexford#

Wexford is a walled woodland town of approximately 1,000 souls, situated some fifty miles south of Bridgeport in the depths of the Wexwood Forest. It sits at the confluence of the Wex River and Spring Creek, and is predominantly home to the Aelfaen — though travellers, traders, and those with business in the forest pass through regularly enough that outsiders are not unknown.

It is a quieter place than Bridgeport, but quieter does not mean simple.

Wexford

Governance#

Wexford operates under a layered authority that keeps several interests in careful balance:

  • Seneschal Maereth Ilthandor represents the Crown and governs from Sands House
  • Mayor Thomas Greenweald handles civic matters and speaks for the townspeople
  • A Council of Six advises on local affairs

Wexford sits within the Barony of the Sands, and the Crown’s voice in town is Seneschal Maereth Ilthandor, who holds veto authority over all civic decisions and outranks both the Mayor and the garrison commander.

The Crown garrison is quartered at the Crown Barracks, commanded by Captain Aurix Valemor — a Gold Dragonborn officer whose calm and methodical manner makes even routine briefings feel significant. A separate town militia answers to Captain Rethan Vale, handling civic security and day-to-day patrol while the Crown troops focus on forest patrols and road security.

Together they ensure Wexford remains orderly — though the line between their respective jurisdictions is occasionally a matter of quiet negotiation.

The Wexwood#

The forest surrounding Wexford is old — older than the town, older than the roads, possibly older than memory. The Aelfaen who live here have a relationship with it that outsiders rarely fully understand. It is not hostile, exactly. But it is watchful.

Travellers are advised to stay on marked paths.
