Kiville#
First encountered: Saltstone Square, Duskgrain Day 23, 700AG
Currently: Dragonline Lodge, Saltstone Square (as of Duskgrain Day 23)
A tall man in a long duster coat with good boots. Well-dressed in a way that isn’t quite right — as if someone described fashionable clothing to him and he had it made accordingly. He carries a device on a chain that resembles a pocket watch, which he checks frequently and with evident meaning.
He was found crouching beside the fountain in Saltstone Square, examining the stonework with the focused attention of someone who finds old stone genuinely interesting. He spoke to two local girls with the careful courtesy of a person who has learned that locals know things worth knowing.
What the Party Knows#
He gave his name as Kiville. He is currently staying at the Dragonline Lodge.
He is an observer, by his own description. He asks questions that are oddly specific — about the age of stones, about how long markets have occupied particular squares, about whether the ground has always held where it holds now. His answers to questions asked of him are polite, considered, and almost entirely unhelpful.
His reactions to members of the party — a simiah, a katari, a faerie — were genuine enough to be unsettling. Not rude. Not performative. Simply the reactions of someone who had never encountered such people before and found them genuinely remarkable.
When asked about his pocket watch, he explained that it helps him keep track of his time. Not the time. Bo Bo caught that distinction. No satisfying explanation followed.
His body language, facial expressions, and general manner suggest he is not being deliberately deceptive so much as operating from a context that doesn’t quite map onto Bridgeport, Algar, or — possibly — this plane of existence.
What the Party Doesn’t Know#
Quite a lot, apparently.
This entry will be updated as the party learns more.
