Barkeep at the Strangled Goat in Saltstone Square. A Tropical Ursinor with striking panda-like markings — bold black and white coloring that makes him immediately recognizable in the Goat’s busy common room.
What the Party Knows#
Fen struck up a conversation with Vail and Ender at the bar — casual on its surface, careful underneath. He was assessing them: who they were, who they worked for, whether they could be trusted with a problem that needed handling quietly.
Satisfied that they were what they appeared to be — a group recently come together, not affiliated with any guild or guild-adjacent organization — he asked for their help. Stock had been going missing from the Goat in quantities that couldn’t be explained by ordinary loss. He needed it found and stopped by people who wouldn’t report back to anyone official.
His offer: enough to cover the 25GP Adventurer’s Guild certification fee for each member of the party.
He showed them the storeroom beneath the Goat and the sewer entrance hidden behind a stack of goods. He provided two lanterns. He told them to knock on the trap door when they returned — he would keep it latched but would be listening.
Impressions#
Measured. Pragmatic. He sized the party up before saying a word about his problem, and only approached when he was reasonably confident in what he was dealing with. He’s not a man who takes unnecessary risks with his employer’s business or his own.
The panda markings are hard to miss. The careful eyes behind them are worth noting.
